Well, it looks like we're in for another great community gathering this Thursday during Farmer's Market. All thanks to Monica for, once again, organizing the entire thing - complete with Mariachis, a kids taco table, a pinata and enough food for an army I'm sure! It's events like this that strengthen our community as we meet neighbors we haven't met before, reconnect with those we haven't seen in awhile, and enjoy eachothers company for a couple of hours on a summer evening. I was talking to a friend at Live Oak this past weekend, someone who I haven't seen for a year or so, about Garden Farms. She and her family DREAM of someday living here and she kept saying, over and over, how lucky my family was to live here. That really resonated with me because I do feel lucky, everyday, to be surrounded by such a place as this. We are a unique group of folks and we all benefit from living here whether we acknowledge that on a daily basis or not. One way to attain that warm, fuzzy feeling about our little slice of heaven is to come to a gathering like the Taco Feed and be fully present with your neighbors for a couple of hours; watch the kids playing, introduce yourself to someone you don't recognize, dance with someone you love, fill your belly with beer, tacos and laughs and then just try to not feel fortunate about where you live - I dare you! I hope to see all of you there!
